Vacuum in FumeFX?

#1

Hi all,

was wondering if it is possible to create a ‘vacuum like’ effect in fumefx. For instance, if you animate an inflating balloon, it would suck the smoke above it into the balloon to fill the vacuum. For now, the solution does not seem to take this into account, since it’s not directly velocity based. Any ideas?

2 options:

  1. Wind with negative force.
  2. Particles sucked (driven by surface or force) into the baloon driving fluid velocity.

thanks, i thought so already. I’d hoped that there was a more physically accurate way, but this seems to be the best way forward indeed.

thanks.

Best way is do it the opposite way and reverse it in comp…

Cheers!!!

If you want a phisically accurate way what I would do is use an object as a “pump” into a baloon and fluid deflector at the same time, push the fluid in the pump so it goes “outside” the pump and “inside” the baloon, make the baloon fluid collision object. Now I would use the fluid to drive particles into the baloon and the particles deform the baloon … It could work … I think … but it is a crazy amount of work and never would have courage to use it in production
