V-Ray Optimal Settings

#1

Hi everybody,
I recently got Vray and I am a little overwhelmed by its many settings. I did a little animation about a “indoor water fountain” to test it out. I am quite happy with the result. Here it is a sample frame I rendered:

I think the ressult is good but the render time could improve. The preppasses are fast but the “rendering image” process takes 8+ minutes, which multiplied by 1650 frames is a huge amount of time. I used the settings listed here:
http://robertokoci.com/very-fast-rendering-vray/

That basically are:

  • Secondary bounces set to light cache
  • Sampling size = 0.005
    In the Irradiance map settings:
  • HSph. subdivs to 70
  • Interp. samples to 25
  • Subdivs in the Light Cache to 700

The rest are the default settings if I don’t remember badly.
Do you think there is anything I could improve before rendering the animation? Settings? Any in the scene itself?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
