V-Ray Irradiance Map Pre Calc Crash.

#1

hi guys,
I’m running Max 2009 and Vray 1.5. My problem is I’ve been precalcing the IR Map for an 1100 frame Animation using multi incremental at every 5th frame. Unfortunatly max crashed about an hour ago at frame 875, however the IR Map had saved itself upto the point i was at.

So what i’m wondering is, is there anyway to add to what i have using incremental add to current, or should i just calc a new map for the remaining frames and stich it all together after render? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

psone

AFAIK you can load up the map, render once using “from file”, and then build on it using incremental add. In VRay 1.5 SP3 there’s a “use camera path” check box in the irradiance map settings, and when it’s checked, the irradiance map will be calculated along the entire camera path, requiring you to only render one frame.

You can continue from where it stoped, just render a single frame with from file to vray load the current irradiance map, you can even use the don’t render final image, you’ll see a black frame buffer but the irradiance will be loaded. Then you can use the “incremental add to current map”, if you use the multiframe incremental the irradiance loaded will be reset. And just for safety, save the irradiance with a new name.
