UV spikes when subdivided

does anyone have this problem? I have a model that I’ve laid out the uvs in maya. I bring it into mudbox and work on it, and then I go to make a displacement map. The only way I can do it is to use the base level of the model for the low rez, and I have to set it’s subdivision level to none. Cause if I set it to any type of subdivision, it creates these spiky streaks, because it’s trying to join or sew the uvs back together where they are cut. It’s pretty annoying.

maybe you using an old mud version…?
