UV set override in maya

Hi everyone,
I’m presently working on my short film and I’m facing a major problem.
in my movie, a man see his hand being covered by wood. I thought of doing it in the compositing part by using three different render layer: one for original color, one for wood, and one for a puzzle using an animated ramp in projection.
The problem is that when I use my ramp in projection it keeps on using the UV set instead of the projection itself. I though I could try to overide my UV set in my specific puzzle render layer, but I can’t seem to make it work.
Can anyone give me some advise on that? how do I make UV set override in a render layer, or how can I make my ramp in projection wok the way it should.
