UV Help PLZ...

#1

Wussup, I’m trying to send a UV reference into photoshop for painting, and I’m doing it via the EPS export, but when I try to apply it through the texture editor, the UV isn’t lined up the the model?!?! Help?!?!

PS: I’m also wondering if there is a way to take a high resolution screenprint incase I can’t get this to work? Thank in advance…

ok, I’ll speak to you like you’re a simpleton purely because it’s the easiest way to find the problem…don’t take offence, you’ve probably just overlooked something.

When you exported the UV’s did you export the correct UV map?
Did you export the UV viewport?
Did you export just the single UV viewport or all viewports?
Is the image cropped to the UV grid?
Are you applying the map via UV projection, not planar, spherical etc?
Are you applying to the correct UV map?
Have you actually rendered an image or is it just screwed in OpenGL?

I hope that’s covered it

VMapManager http://www.trueart.eu/?URIType=Directory&URI=Products/Plug-Ins/VMapManager has tool Save UV Map to image, you set width & height in options, so you can have any hires without problems.
It’s also available inside of TrueArt’s Modeling Pack http://modelingpack.trueart.eu

-Yes
Did you export the UV viewport?
-Yes
Did you export just the single UV viewport or all viewports?
-The single UV Viewport
Is the image cropped to the UV grid?
-I think so, it looked as though it was, there was no UV border in the image
Are you applying the map via UV projection, not planar, spherical etc?
-
UV Projection
Are you applying to the correct UV map?
-
Explain, what could be wrong?
Have you actually rendered an image or is it just screwed in OpenGL?
-
Really? Comon…

Honestly, that last question was put there because someone once asked why their textures were screwed up with spherical mapping. It took several posts to discover that they hadn’t even rendered it, just assumed that the texture was screwed up.

Do you have more than one UV map? Have you applied the texture to the correct one, eg. have you applied “face.jpg” to “hand_UV”?

Can you upload the object and image, even a low-res version?

Here’s a part of the problem… When I look at the texture in the texture editor, the image in the little box above “Edit image”, looks as though the textured image is completely stretched to the right, and only about 1/4 of the image is visible?

I think it might be because of my merged points, it looks as though not all of the points of the texture have merged together again, (I unwelded them earlier to move them around) how do I re-merge them since some won’t?

Can you post some screen grabs.
