For a full character in ut2k3, what’s average polycount? Granted nothing is too low if the textures are done right, but what is too high?
Thanks in advance!

Finally someone who understands… Nowadays people are filling their model with as much polygons as they can, just because “the engine can handle it”. I prefer to work more with textures where you can (for games that is). If that really doesn’t give you the satisfied depth and quality… add some polys.
I think a character for UT2003 was about 5000 poly’s, I’m not too quite sure though.
Greetz there and the polycount in UT 2003 starts on some
of the standart human models with 2800 - 3000 Polys and on
the alien models with 3100 - 3500 Polys. The Engine self
can take as much polys you want to have for a model just
depends on the Hardware you have
I testet a model with
8000 Polys and it worked but dont ask for the fps damn slow
i can tell…

I find this a little strange. If the user doesnt have a (state of the art) graphics card, then this whole max poly count business is meaningless.
Please don’t forget that.
