Using Tablet; drawing won't work

#1

I am using Photoshop CS4.

In CS3 everything worked fine with my Lapazz tablet, Photoshop; illustrator, etc.

I upgraded to CS4 and all the apps work with my tablet fine, including illustrator — except in photoshop I cannot draw. I can use the tablet pen to move the cursor around the interface but I cannot draw any masks or draw anything in the window. What happens is when I bring my cursor into the window with my tablet and try to draw, simply a dot appears. With the mouse I can draw fine but not with the tablet. The only thing I can do is make a dot with the tablet and then connect it to another dot by holding down SHIFT… but this will not work if I really would like to draw. The tablet draws fine in Photoshop CS3 and other apps. Photoshop CS4 is the only app I am having this trouble with…

I am on Leopard 10.5.

Please help me, thank you.

Sounds like an incompatibility issue between your tablet driver and CS4. I’d recommend you contact Adobe’s customer support about it, perhaps they can help. I haven’t had any issues with a Wacom Intuos on CS4 on Leopard, so it must be specific to your tablet.

I had issues with my wacom. Step one is to make sure all drivers are updated. Step 2 and I know this sounds silly but it worked. Launch photoshop get a brush that you know is tablet sensitive and press down hard on the tablet with the pen. I did that out of frustration and it worked. I told someone else that was having issues to do the same and it work for him also.
