Using Fur/Hair to interpolate multiple motion paths in Maya

#1

Hi,

I want to animate multiple objects with simple geometry (up to 300 golden rhombi) starting their movement from one general space in a scene, and each coming to rest in a different specific destination (again in a similar local space).

I have been told that there is a way to do this using the principles of hair / fur. The principle (as I understand) is that it isn’t necessary to create many curves for motion paths, but only a series of curves, from which all objects interpolate their movement depending on their starting (or ending?) position.

Can anyone shed any light on this technique or point me in the right direction? I have been doing numerous searches and found nothing suitable.

Kind regards,

Tom
