Using 2d tracks from Motion tracker?

#1

Is there a way to use the 2d tracks from the motion tracker?
At the moment I’m not interested in the 3d solve. I just want the 2D tracks. Ideally as nulls.
I’ve also looked at the After effects camera tracker. I can’t seem to extract the 2d tracks themselves there either.

I’m looking for an easy way to roughly track a lot of points from footage, to use in C4D.

yes, there is a way.
XPRESSO has a preset Called “MotionTrcker User Tracks”, that allows you to read 2D trackers and extract their Count, Camera Space Position, Global Position, Pixel Position and if it’s active.
I was under the impression there was some tutorial floating around the interweb, but I can’t seem to be able to locate it.

Good thing to know, I had no idea.

But honestly, C4D tracker is really great, and it got even better in R20. I recently completed a job where I had at least 20 shots to track on a green screen and everything was done in C4D flawlessly.

That is definitively interesting. Unfortunately it only reads the user tracks, and not the automated tracks.
It is a python script, so maybe I can adjust it to also read the automated tracks.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I found a way to use Auto tracks, although it doesn’t make much sense, as they are randomly placed, and have plenty of tracking errors.
I’m recording a tutorial as we speak, and will let you know when it’s published on Cineversity.

Thanks for the effort. I got it working with the Xpresso-python preset. I changed the following line (line 87) to:
tracksStatus = tracks.GetTrackIndices(userTracks =True, autoTracks = True)

Then the script incorporates both the automated and manual tracks.

haha, that’s precisely what I added at the end of my tutorial.
You may be interested in the mograph setup I have also. It generates the same clone number as trackers and places them on each one.
I’ll let you know when it’s published

Learn 2D #MotionTracking inside #Cinema4D with the “MotionTracker User Tracks” XPRESSO preset and how to use it with Auto Tracks and #MoGraph

Can anybody confirm “MotionTracker user Tracks” in xpresso is working in R23 or it is broken? Man the tracker in C4D might be good but it is very unusable if you can not use the tracked data… object tracker requires at least 7 to 12 user tracks but of course if the reconstruction fails the tracks remain unusable… for all those years I wonder how no body complains this to be improved?
