Hey guys,
I just wanted a new Animationmentor updated thread to talk about since there hasn’t been one in a few years. (or at least from what i’ve seen)
Let’s continue from this discussion shall we? http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php?t-965318.html
That being said, I have applied to other art schools but they are all expensive. So lately, I’ve been taking 2 years at my local community college doubtful I could ever find a school that can help me break into the industry. I’ve decided to take a risk and drop all my classes; I’m currently 20 (soon to be 21 in 11 days
) and i’ve recently found out about animationmentor. Long story short, my parents are uncertain about the program since they are first generation immigrants in america etc. and they are unwilling to help financially. Lately, I have gotten a job and I have been saving up to get a new computer and for the tuition. I’m pretty much worried how work will take an effect with my education. I heard the first 2 terms aren’t as work intensive but the 3rd term and on is where it gets really time demanding. I have no prior 3d knowledge except with blender which was only 2 months ago upon discovering animationmentor. What are the steps that can better prepare oneself before taking a course through animationmentor? And has anyone received any grants while taking the program?
I’ve been thinking of getting the student maya free trial once I get a new computer to start off ahead. Where would you get character models that are fully rigged for free?
It has been a couple of years since a new thread so I would like to know in general:
How big the classes are?
What times can you pick?
What’s your experience like?
How is the current industry?
Can you integrate your skills from maya to 3ds max easily?
Thanks for everything folks.
