University Project - Unicorn

Hey all,

I’m currently working on a short animated film for an assignment at university, I’ve been tasked with developing a short film based upon a short poem.

There is no animation at the moment, but there should be within the next week or two, so I’m posting it in here. Plus the forum states short films should go in this section.

Anyway I shall skip the boring details :slight_smile:

Storyboard;

Unicorn model (wip!);

I have cut quite a few verses out of the poem, this does ruin the story somewhat but considering I only have 9 weeks to develop this, and I want something which will be of high quality on my show reel I feel it’s worth the trade off (I have several other BIG projects running along side this… 2D, vfx, sound etcetera)

An update is in order I do believe.

I’ve worked on this on, and off for the last few weeks. Not as much as I should have done, but deadline is in 3 weeks so time to get my ass into gear :argh:

Unicorn
Some work has been done to the unicorn, main hair & textures. It’s not perfect but I had to sign it off at some point.

Peacock
I’m quite fond of this, but sadly I give up on rendering the feathers in the final scene as they’re seen for a few seconds yet increased the render times massively.

Stills
Random stills from the ‘attempt at’ animation

I’ll upload some playblasts in a short while, it would be good to get some critiques on my animation before I finally render out the shots.

Colour correction is still needed for the still shot by the way, and it’s 32-bit EXR images I’ve rendered out to so I should get a good range when adjusting for final colours.
