Another Thing you could d0o if you are MODing a game is update the scripting to the AI. Also You can alter Character Behavior in any .DAT files, but thats for MODS only.

Hi,

Well, I’ll probably start of in modding an existing RTS game, but I’d like to start writing my own AI, of course, this would be a very simple AI in the beginning but gradually evolve into something more “humanly” like and maybe who knows into something that has not been done before

A man can wish right :bounce:

A book I just mentioned in another post is called ‘Core Techniques and Algorithms in Game Programming’, written by Daniel Sánchez-Crespo Dalmau. It has two sections devoted to basic AI stuff which is very easy to read. AI is a very hard subject though; the impression I got when studying the subject for the Bouncy Hunters project was that the most used AI stuff is still just very advanced scripts with some math thrown in.

I guess there’s some ways to go before the game ads touting ‘learning self adapting intelligent AI behavior’ will be really true.
