Umbus -SketchBook-

#101

yes thanks, I agree.
Might be enough to focus on one area, gotta remember that. In the case above I think it would be the character in front but I got out of time aswell, this is a practise of using the time well too. for me at least. :arteest:

Thanks

#102

I Can tell you I didn’t use the time well in this one.
One more for today, got a little more time
on my hands during the weekends.

#103

nice piece of work… i guess you got me to start to paint again after very long pause… I really like seeing how much you did go so far.

it is not about details. It is how you create piece. (to respond to your comments how your works are bad) Im suffering worse than you what to do

cheers tomas

#104

hey tomasis long time no see. Thank you for your comment.

U still around in the Sijun neighbourhood?

#105

yeah started checking Sijun recently. There I found the link to here. Nice you got own address umbus.com. It is what I waited for and I’m going to follow your blog.

See ya around later

#106

Tomasis - U know we have all been there I stopped painting aswell, got my heart crushed when the decorative didn’t get me anywhere.
Felt I had to abandon painting and do something else, found back to it though, never thought I would be interested in it again. Weird how that works…
Still though I see it just as a sparetime hobby now, not that much into learning anymore jĆŗst like to sketch.
Nice to see you again.
sure bring back old sijun memories.

I actually found some old pics going through my old account, don’t have anything saved myself but it seems they are still up on the imagshack archives.
Here some oldies from 2007:

#108

You seem to realeased a painting frenzy

Lovely images, both old and new ones. Especially #102 has amazing depth.

#109

Decided to just post the link to the oldies above, took too darn much space in the sketchbook.

siiilon, yea some days you are just in coma and better just sit around and paint, lol guess I had one of those days.
refined this one a little, changed view on it aswell.

#110

This one simply blew me away, damn. Outstanding

#111

I have to agree with Siiilon. Ur work is getting more Dynamic. Its Awesome!!!

#112

appreciate the feedback guys.

Wrote a little more about this one over in the blog. Success in the workflow this one, used 10minutes in the beginning and then started to flesh out.
Sure for one hour one should perhaps expect more detail, I still gonna need a lot of mileage with that though.
Thanks again guys.

Now come to think about it I should have probably rotated a little and stabilized a little, what do you guys think? Hard to read?

#113

the composition still suffers, gotta call it a day on this sucker.
Don’t wanna depart too much from my one hour either.
Quick fix in this one.

#114

This one is much better readable in terms of where is up and where is down. The previous camera angle was too unusual to find the ground. I like it very much and I agree that, as for me, I enjoy good workflow much more than the result. I think, that is the difference between producer vs consumer, that producer enjoy the whole process of creation, which is something uncomparably and unimaginably better.

#115

Hey siiilon appreciate the feedback. It’s weird though when I made it made perfect sense, the angle.
Sometimes you just keep staring yourself blind when you create…
Yea the process is what I enjoy the most, why I keep doing it.

btw I added some info in your sketchbook, not perfect but I hope it helps a little.

#116

I totally get the perspective on the last one. Its much easier to read than the first one. The Dark castle look is looking good. Keep it up!!!

#117

Mattu, appreciate it.

Lol I think this one better starts with a question, got tree?
haha can’t win em all.

#118

LOL good one. Hey on the dark castle one, maybe to help others that can’t see the perspective that well, maybe add some birds around the top of the tower or a dragon whatever you prefer.

#119

Actually yea that’s good advice, was thinking about birds.
Still think the castle one lacks in the composition… Experimented with it but it turned out to be a rather difficult composition to fix, snif.

Made another one
