I hope the new challenge will start up here soon (at which time they will need to be shifted), just waiting for the final word from Orik.

We might have to just pick on of his suggested topics if we dont hear from him soon…

Since Orik is leaving the topic of the next challenge up to us, I am going to feel like a brat if you guys go with exactly what I tossed out there. If everyone is into a Sci-Fi room, I think we should brainstorm some additional guidelines. I personally think the title ‘A Sci-Fi Room’ could be spiced up a bit.

    [b] OT/random thinking/question for some vets[/b]: I was browsing around the web looking for materials to improve my skills, I ended up picking up a bunch of Gnomon DVD's. The price tag was serious which got me thinking '[i]Golly gee[/i], it would be nice if could win this kind of stuff in a game art contest, maybe I will just have to see what I can do in one of those CG Challenges at CGtalk.' Then I came over here to see when the next CG Challenge was going to take place, and I ran across a section titled "Game Art Design Challenges". Any of you guys who have been here for a while know why there hasn't been one in a long time?  Will there be an 'official' game art challenge again?  Were there ever sponsors for it like there are for CG Challenges?  Just curious.

very true… hmm a conspiracy maybe? or possibly busy whicvh is more realistic, hell im nowhere near as good as those guys and im almost too busy to come on here, so light knows what kinda swampage tackles those chaps every so often

But yea it would be cool to have a real big challenge like CG Challenge

Ok… I see what everyone is saying about prizes.
The main reason so that we have not given out prizes so far is mostly because we are an monthly (or try to be) challenge where finding sponsorship every few weeks would be difficult, and also it was at once believed that we did not need them such we were such a small community.

 But, In theory

What does everyone think ample prizes would be?

Hardware?
-EG: Common items that will work across all systems (since we can’t pre-tell the specs/layout of the winners system ahead of time) like monitors, speakers, keyboards, ect

Software?
-EG: A Training DVD (problem here is –A) amounts vary between DVDs, and –B) not everyone will want / need the same type of DVD), Videos Games related to the current challenge, movies, ect

Ok, the toony stuff was just an idea. I think an entire filmset in one month could be too much, too. And a char after the vehicle contest would be a good change.
Here are some charideas. I’m not really familiar with them, so I write down what’s in my mind. I hope its usable.
an aliens pet (e.g. a small cute kittything ^^ )
a heavy animal transporter (the animal is the transporter)
a humanized existing animal (like in planet of the apes)
the crazy professor (any style) not really imaginative ^^
a ghostbuster (not the “movie” ones)

   Some character themes:[b]
   "small and cankered"
   [/b]            [b]"hunter and hunted"[/b] - two chars again.

  More suggestions are appreciated.

Official, Unofficial, it is just a name for the same challenge. Though, to my knowledge, there have never been any prizes for the challenges besides one where a cool T-Shirt was donated. I believe the website owner who was giving the prize away was from GeekFurry.com, and I don’t know what ever became of it (I think it was shipped straight to the winner?)

Devil, you busted me, it was set. I was really just wondering about the challenge because it is archived in with the CG Challenges and not here. It occurred to me that for there to actually be something (here at CGTalk) on a level even remotely close to the CG Challenge, there would probably have to be a Ballistic book published on the challenge.
