UGAC - Super Shiny and Sexy vehicle - Pyrotechnic

#1

Ok, I can’t resist any longer, after two or three starts on different ideas, I’m in.

DESIGN CHANGED 24/05/06

My old design was shiney, and a little sexy, but I was stuck, and I also wanted something a bit different.

Name: Pyrotechnic
Genre: Racing Game
Concept: Jet-powered Hovercraft

The concept pics aren’t done yet

Here’s the new modelling so far:
Front
Rear

Currently weighs in at 3452 tri’s, so plenty more to spend (jeez, never thought I hear (see) myself say (type) that! (again))

The exhausts take up quite a lot of tri’s, so I might carve a few off if I need them elsewhere.

its like a masculine Lady Penelope’s car from Thunderbirds,

couple of crits, its cool but your not using ytour polys very wisely, you have details that could be acheived with a bump/normal map and could be spent on smoothing some of the curved areas.

if you do an interior, make sure to pimp it up with pink and black leopard print:)

#5

Hehehe, I thought that too when I was making it, I think her’s had 2 wheels at the front though.

Yeah, I’m not too good with spending poly’s, hence my suprise when I came so far under budget.

I might spend the rest of the poly’s on an interior…

Looking sweet!
:bounce:

By-The-Way;
You have an thing for hovercrafts don’t you

#8

Hehehe, shhhh

#9

Looking good, the spoiler could use some more style/definition… throw some polies there

#10

Yeah, I’m still undecided on the spoiler, 40% of me is saying ‘No, hovercrafts don’t need a spoiler to push the back end down’, another 40% says ‘Yes, it could do with a spoiler, it would help it get over things if the front was lighter’ and the remaining 20% just says ‘Stuff whether it needs it or not, it would look cool so have it anyway!’ :hmm:…

But yeah, if it stays it needs changing, if not re-doing.

Also if you want to give more detail without really changing the shape, you could pull off a McLaren F1 type thing, where the engine (if it’s at the back) has a glass plate on it so you can see through.

Examples:

Cheers

I took the re-do option on the spoiler. I also split the rear thrusters into 4, I figured it looked cooler and would probably give more control.

Front
Rear

Now stands at 3960 tri’s.

EDIT:
The flames and blue glow are just for show ;]

Looking good man:thumbsup:, Only crit is that the reflection map on the window is really stretched
you might wanna ease that up a bit.

Cheers :]

I haven’t done anything to the map, it’s just an environment map on a Raytrace material, it’s only they to get an idea at the moment.

Moving house is really threatening the completion of this project :[

Little updaye though, rounded the windscreen and added an air intake at the front (/ big cheesey grin :D), slightly re-done the rear spoiler again and segmented the skirt.
