UGAC – Moving Juggernaut Vehicle Level - Rules

#141

Ok, Had a few spare min. tonight so I quickly went and made a image that can be used as an front page plug using one of Desp#2/Rog’s screenshots

Is everything set?

Should I go back to the drawing board tomorrow?
Post your opinions here

As for me, I am off for the night, I will check back in the morning.

Top shelf work Desp#2/Rog…well done!!

#143

Thanks Stefan_Morrell. Your working was awesome! Great peice. I hope to see you in the game section more.

for the pic

The pic looks fine the only thing is the text, it might be better in san serif. and the unoffical have more space inbetween the letters since it is so small give it some space so it can be read easier. The setup on the pic is good though.

#144

Ok, here are some more designs with the text along with the original

I think we should go with the last one, but whatever we pick we need to do so fast

Lets get this front page plug up tonight.

-EDIT-
The last one will be up in a min…

#145

So what’s next?

#146

That decision is up to Desp#2/Rog. But at the moment it looks like an environmental level for an portable console. They Might be the ability for co-opp entries as well! Definitely lots to look forward to.

If you have any ideas toss them out. The more the merrier.

#147

Maybe this is close to the specs we should be shooting for… (?)

Picky picky
Even getting a front page plug is hard enough.

#149

i think the co-op idea should be dropped entirely, its got a high chance of falling apart due to team members pulling out for all sorts of reasons.
as for the actual challenge i think it should be a third person action environment the way GTA is on the PSP, doesnt have to be that style though, fantasy, tech, anything.
just get some good psp spec environments going.
psp specs are strict enough, i think the artist should be given some freedom in what they create and only concentrate on meeting the specifications.

GLandolina has a point. We already know envio is not the most famous of all game art comps. So making it so complicated would really be bad. I think we should stay with a single person game art comp for psp. Theme can be anything as long as it is not first person shooter which sorta has been done and I think it is funner thinking of other game themes besides first person which has been done to death as of late.

And yep I was picky lol. Graphic design classes does that to you lol.

#151

why not a static handheld background image? instead of poly count, we have images size contrainsts [1000x1000 limit] and we can make a pre-built asset that we all have to use for scale purposes [like a 150x100 car].

so this way, its us verse the clock, lets see how much detail we can get into a background before time is up and make sure everything is to scale with the pre-built model].

or static tiles that can be pieced together in any which way to make levels [straight roads, turns, trees, houses…]

just an idea…

#152

The sooner this one gets started the better, as Leo has said that the next CGChallenge will be starting late Feb.

#153

It can be ready to go by sunday if you ask me…

lets get going…

#154

im interested to see what topic you guys come up with, the juggernaut theme was sick-o-licious.

#155

I like the PSP envio idea… I would like to inculde that you have to make a main cha model also. depending on theme it can be pretty easy to make a cha. if you make a top rpg like the old zelda game than the detail can be very basic. So i do not think it is huge deal.

DevilHacker lets setup the specs and get it going.

#156

as much as I know I dont have the time…I think I’ll have to have a go at another environment

got any examples of a psp rpg?

psp-rpg
has a nice ring to it

#157

Is it just going to be left open to anything? No theme guidelines?

#158

I dont think we should do a character, just the environment, and env. artist isnt likely to do the character for it anyway.

infact i dont think it should be set to one type of environment.
the winner should be the person who pulls off the most amazing looking peice with the limited specs.

#159

Ok. Awesome
Lets get started.
You can E-Mail me at DLoney@houston.rr.com, or PM me using CGTalk.
Or, of course post here

Ya, I am in the same situation.
Though, with the lower poly limits the PSP has, I bet I will be able to get an entry done.
Hope that you decide to take a stab at it, remember levels go from small to large (depending on the type), so I bet an small level environment should be feasible to anyone

but, on to your question
There are many great PSP RPG games, many of which have 3D environments that look amazing. I will be sure to post some links and pictures when we get around to writing up the rule book, but in the mean time, take a glace over here

That as of the moment is undecided. Though if I had to take a guess, I would say yes
though the final decision is up to Desp#2/Rog.

Yep, I defiantly see where you are coming from, and will take your suggestions under advisements. Thanks.

In the mean time, Has anyone else seen some of the environments for the Splinter Cell game for the PSP. They look stunning.

#160

yeah they look good
i want to do a low poly environment because i know its something that alot of people can manage, myself included, i struggle with larger projects and dont have the drive to start a smaller one, this ugac would make me do one all the way through.

i’ll get some specs, i think there’s a sticky on one of the other forums somewhere.
