So my second? post on cgtalk. I was told of this in school and found it intriguing so i came up with something. I still can’t decide. Steam or Train man. I like Train Man. did i post this right? Anyways, here’s my concept! start modeling this friday me thinks!! Woot. this is gonna be fun.

Edit: er forgot one of the darn arms have to be a severe weapon… imaging a really big Steam Gun. Ahem. STEAM GUN. -_- don’t draw when it’s late people.

#2

Awesome … totally dig the concept… waiting to see it modelled.

#3

hate to pop bubbles

looks rather familiar =p

#4

tis unknown!! will alter some to make it STEAM MAN then.

#5

I was liking the Train man, thats a bummer about the other train man… Sketch was looking really good. =)

can’t wait to see what else you’ll come up with. You can get some really creative ideas when your half asleep. It’s the best itme to play Paranoia. =)

#6

Umm, I’m almost already doing that one (BoilerMan, attacks with superheated water vapor)…but SteamMan isn’t breaking the rules, I don’t think. Maybe we could be like rivals or something! :B

And that is a shame becuase your train man looks really cool. I don’t suppose RailroadMan is deviation enough to be allowed…

…JohnHenryMan?

#7

I was thinking of pistons and coal. Hmm COAL MAN. OKAY COAL MAN IT IS. BE BACK WITH MORE!

#8

Sorry, i have to do it before someone else beats me to this…

but…

Hey look its Coooooooooaaaaaaal Man.
(yes that was a bad soul-train reference, that may not make much sense to the non-United States users)

Alright. Coal Man is my FINAL Decision. Coal Man is an aristocrat obsessed with the coal industry! He wears a big top hat, has a fancy mustache and such. He packs the Coal Flame Blaster. A weapon that superheats coal and launches it at Megaman! The coal continues to burn even after it hits him, so it creates burning for about 3 seconds after impact. More life drain! On top of that (not shown) when he gets closer to dying he becomes DIAMOND MAN ( it’s just going to be a texture swap) where he becomes too enraged he turns into a diamond type skin and shoots… DIAMONDS. HAHAH… anyways, here’s the pic for coal man:

#10

That is so badass. I love his chops and his tophat. This is going to look awesome, good work man.

#11

What is that from? He isn’t listed on our list in the main thread, and I can’t find him in Megaman 1-8?
edit: nevermind, he is Charge Man from Megaman 5.

I’d say go ahead and do train man if you want, and as I’ve said in the FAQ since there have been very similar villains already done before (Flame man, Heat man, Fire Man) so long as you aren’t copying the guy exactly (which you aren’t) it’s legit. Since the other train-based guy is Charge Man, you can do Train Man or Locomotive Man and that’s fine. The designs are different enough.

#12

That is true but remember the element might be the same but, like your example, each have major noticible differences. Example Flame Man isn’t similar in desgn in anyway to Fire Man or Heat Man. As Much as I like the design of Train Man, hes just too similar to Charge Man. Coal Man is, in my opinion, a much better design, he really fits the MM universe very well. I can’t wait to see him done

#13

CoalMan wins best dressed award.

Lookin’ sweet! Keep it up!

#14

I thought TrainMan looked sweet, but CoalMan woo baby, that is awesome! Love it!

#15

the starting point:

He’s about 2300 triangles right now. The coal box should be about 100 triangles. I’m not sure how crazy to go, so i’ll start off simple and then go from there.

#16

woot. a new update. More detail. 95% done with modeling! Thanks to bitweaver for the render help :3 UV MAPPING NEXT

EDIT: Oops, polycount: 7614 Triangles.

#17

In the hour between seeing it after class and your post there seems to be soo much more… its looking awesome and i cant wait to see it textured! good luck

#18

That is really sweet! The only thing is that I thnk the coal bucket should be bigger, like in the reference. I think that was a great feature about him, that he had this massive coal bucket on his back.

Really great job either way. Wireframe!

#19

Here’s the wires!

#20

Dude, that looks awesome. Though, I might raise the knees up a little; his upper legs look too long.

Can’t wait to see him textured!
