UGAC - Megaman - Smooth_Criminal

Thanks Takeroll, veteehrri, WMBrown… Actually this is the high poly model… which I am making for generating normal maps.

@Seforin: He he thanks man, nice to hear u liked the design… well yeah maybe the design would not properly fit into megaman’s world. When I went through the site listing megaman characters… most of the characters had plan armors and generic design… I decided to follow the same thing but also wanted to give a nex gen detail feel to it… Normal maps, 8k polys given to me were good opportunity to do that… So I delibrately gave the more detail looking armor sets to the character at the cost that it might divert from the style… though the stuff like big boots, big hands, kiddish look are still there… some things as u said might not fit. I will still stick to the design I hav rite now, as one more reason to that is I dont wnt to do a lot of backtracking.

Thanks again. And, yeah your not rude in anyway. I reaally appreciate ur crits and comments.

SMOOTH…

You’re definitely making awesome progress with your model, congrats! You’re definitely moving along much faster than I am. hehe.

However… winces … As it has been stated already, it doesn’t feel too much like Classic MegaMan … in fact, in my opinion, it doesn’t look very much like it belongs in any of the several MegaMan series. To me, it looks cool, don’t get me wrong, however … it looks more like it belongs in, say, one of the Final Fantasy installments. Now, obviously, your model is very close to completion and I wouldn’t change anything at this point, but I would definitely keep in mind the use of vibrant colors when going about texturing … Perhaps that can drag it back into the MM universe a bit. Just a thought.

Also, a quick word on the NextGen aspect of this contest (not really directed towards Smooth here, but just a general reminder) … The tricky thing about this task is that we’re to create a NextGen model using normal maps, etc, however we are also being tasked to create something that belongs in a VERY child-like cartoon world, where there is minimal detail, as opposed to say, the MegaMan X series. Balancing detail, accurate design, and clever use of NextGen methods is going to be the “trick” here, the most important thing to remember being that just because we CAN use the technology to our advantage, doesn’t mean we SHOULD go overboard with it. Trust me, even I have had to tailor back my design to reflect this … I’m sure at least some of you have seen my original ThunderMan sketch. It was more MegaMan X-ish because of the amount of detail I wanted to automatically throw in just because I could use normal maps to pull it off. Unfortunately, though … Couldn’t happen!

Just a friendly reminder. :wise:

that definatly is a mega man character no fooling. it definatly has that clash of culture that I like to see in characters. keep it up.

Good Luck:)

Yo Thanks for the comments guys kylechaves and horde prime…

yeah I agree with you horde… and also agree with the statement… yup I am kinda going overboard in here :scream:… but, ahh no buts… no need to give reason if it doesnt resembles MM series much :D. But, I am quite satisfied with wht I am doing, as its the first time I am doing something like this… and I wanted to do it like this. I guess the contest on tricky on this part itself… making a character going into MM universe and should be Nex gen…

The high poly thing is done (maybe I will tweak around teh face) but thats abut it. Low poly and normal maps here I come… Textureing is gonna be pain I guess (never done any before)… and yeah here I will try to follow the stuff that goes on MM characters… wish me luck.

The hipoly looks killer, except for he seam on her face…just fix it as it should’nt take long

Looking forward to the lowpoly !
