UGAC -Megaman- RuinedMessiah

For those keeping track, this is the artist formally known as sheppyboy2000. Mainly, I’ve been using that name across the net since 1996 so it’s time for a change. That being said, Ninja Man!

Yes, Shadow Man was lame. Very lame. So I decided to try the Ninja theme in Megaman once more. These are the early sketches.

Primary attacks as as follows.

Vacuum Slice-The force of the cut in air creates a vacuum projectile to be launched across screen. Damage from this move is increased significantly if player is in actual sword paths.

Kunai Bombs-Ninja Man launches six Kunai in a string pattern where they imbed into the floor/walls/ceiling. After releasing the strings, they turn into bomb fuses that detonate wherever they are.

Sword Throw-Ninja Man throws one of his swords at Megaman. This sword moves very slowly because it’s attached, by cable, to Ninja Man. Eventually, the sword is reeled back in to Ninja Man but during the time his sword is gone, he cannot pull of his ultimate attack.

Body Double- When both swords are in the back, do not fire at Ninja Man. For he will emit a cloud of smoke (from his symbol) and retrieve a log from his log machine (in Megaman fashion, yes, the log looking device on his back does, in fact, manufacture logs for this attack). This log will be placed in front of the attack (think Naruto since it’s the most famous example of this) while the smoke clears, NINJA MAN IS GONE! He will drop from off the top of the screen with swords in tow (see one of the sketch poses). If Megaman is in striking distance, it is hefty damage.

Special Ability Gained- Body Double, Kunai shots. Megaman’s standard blasts are replaced with Kunai. They fire just the same except M Buster style attacks cannot be used. However, if Megaman is attacked during this mode, he does the body double attack and player will get to reposition Megaman on the screen past the danger. Useful indeed…

Currently, I’m doing a monster head for practice with normal maps so this is to be applied to this project. Not sure if it would be deemed off topic if I posted the project I’m using to learn techniques for this or not so if you want to see the monster head posted, just say so. I’m hoping to have it done by Monday night.

Go ahead and post anythng that is in your study. Even if it is not in the subject i am sure people will like to see it.

GL

I am still trying to see if ill have time if I do ill post a thread. I was thinking of making a thread just on concept design not sure if I have time to make a whole model but perhaps draw a few megaman. And if I do end up entering ill make Disco man.

Cool cool, though I will say he looks very “Zero-ish” (referring to Zero from the MegaMan X series). I’d suggest changing his helmet slightly so as not to resemble Zero’s too closely, but that’s just my opinion.

I wanted to avoid the Ninja head cliche. So I decided to retain elements from Scorpian and Sub Zero’s heads. It just so happens, the thing I liked about their design was the almost Batman like lines running down the side of the head. So I started tooling with that but tried to get a robotic look from the head with the basic idea of that design element being a flat panel that’s wrapped around the head. From there, I just kinda ended up at this point, logically. Fortunately, the color scheme is different, featuring Navy Blues and greys.

groovy progress here! can’t wait to see how it comes along!

Just a quick update, I’m working on several different concepts in regards to the finer details. So what I plan to do is model sectionally, throw everything into layers, and then post the main variants with the parts labeled and let you guys decide which parts end up on the final.

Expect to see something by Friday. It will all be very basic shapes but different enough that you can tell.

I’ll be watching! even also to glean some tips and tricks as well (the section technique you mentioned sounds like a good idea, i’ll give it a shot myself)

Okay, so Micro Game Art Challenge (see sig) and homework actually delayed me a bit. I’m hoping to have all my variants ready by the weekend to display. I’m aiming for four different torsos (complete with different sword arrays), four heads, four forearms, and four boots to show.

#9

show us more of Ninja Man and show some color schemes and even some modeling while your at it. i am really looking forward to it. NINJAS ARE COOL! Good Luck:D

#10

Alright. I’m not ready to show the full bodys yet but I will show the torso variants. The goal is that, soon, I’ll post four different variants and allow you guys to choose the design. Sadly, the heads still need built at this point. But here we go.

It pains me to do this but I have to bow out of this competition… Reasons are many.

-Homework is piling up
-A couple freelance gigs showed up with too much money to turn away.
-Became involved in another video game project but one that looks like it will at least see some fruitation.
-General stress of being in front of a computer too much
-Okami

So if I cannot complete this in time, you’re getting formal warning in advance. I know, I know. It sucks but considering some of the things I’ve seen in this comp so far, it’s not like I’ll even rank.
