First game art challenge. Dont even know how to do a normal map yet.

I was thinking:

Music Man
Candy Man
Teleport Man
Blender Man

Concepts on the way.

BlenderMan sounds fun! He could blend during MegaMan’s favorite shows, causing the TV to go all wacky.

Thanks for the comment. Im really starting to think along the lines of Candy Man.

He uses a candy cane kinda like a lacrosse stick and launches gum drops at you.

Here is a concept sheet. Trying to workout a body design.

haha, those are great, they really fit the megaman world! I like blenderman a bit more.

Thanks for the praise, Geta-Ve. I guess I did leave out their powers.

Blender Man: His right arm is a vacuum that sucks everything it can in the surrounding environment right up and then blends it into a nice cocktail to fire out of his left cannon. So if he absorbs something made of fire, electricty, water, etc it then blends it all up into an elemental beam that shoots out his cannon.

Candy Man: Is a little easier. He has 3 different weapons. The first one is the candy cane, he can grab mega man with it and swirl him around and throw him. The second is that he has a plasma gum drop that he can either throw at Megaman or use the candy cane like a lacrosse stick and launch the gum drop at megaman. The last is the holes on his chestplate are licorice cables that shoot out ropes that act as a net and hold megaman in place while Candyman goes at it. He also has cotton candy hair.

This is a base shape of blender man. I might be able to get both done but thought I would go with BM first.

Circa 1800 tris. Maya 7.01

That’s a pretty sweet design idea for BlenderMan. Keep it up!

Thanks for the comment chumble-spuzz.

I had some time tonight before bed to finish up phase 2 of B_M. Without tube he is 3400 with tube he is 3900. The last phase will be the fine detail Im glad I have 4000 tris left. Thats way cool. I might do some Zbrush work.

#9

so he does what, like a megaman smootie or something?

haha kinda reminds me frog in a blender kinda deal.

But just with megaman

I think that either one of the characters designed, Blender Man or Candy Man, would have been good models; they both definatly have a mega man feel. Keep it up:)

Thanks for the comments, its appreciated.

Update:
Upon completition of phase 2 I ran into a problem. I wanting to learn how to do Zbrush on this guy for next gen normal mapping however. I had to do a little reconstruction on B_M. Converting to all quads and no ngons. Well as I was doing it I would get random Fatal Errors and then crashing. It happen randomly, sometimes just rightclicking to select verts or trying to do an edge loop. I finally finished getting the model ready for Zbrush and when I went to save the file own its own it started generating Fatals every time i clicked on it. So I had to go back a couple of fatals to export that model and I think Im okay for now. I think I wont know till I get back into Maya from Zbrush.

Wish me luck.

I am Mr. Procrastinator. Thats me alright.

Got to thinking about functionality and the fact they are wanting this for next gen, so I did a little redesign.

I have a few problems here.

I was wanting to do the texturing and displacement in Zbrush and then bring it back into Maya for the final render. However, when I export out of maya as an obj the object all has to be one.

I want to be able to break down the whole mesh into pieces.

Head
Torso and waist
Legs
Arms
Gun
Gun2

But how do I reconstruct them all to have just 2 maps each.

If I was doing it the normal way I would have the head seperate and then the body.

I dont know any other way to do normal maps except in Zbrush and I really dont know how to do that either. Should I just call this a lost cause?
