UGAC – Megaman - hordePrime

10:16 PM
Just wanted to get this up to reserve my villain name … THUNDER MAN! A buddy of mine and I were just shooting some ideas back and forth and I’m fairly certain I’ve got something awesome started here. I’ll post up some concepts ASAP!

11:13 PM
Got the first draft design all sketched up …

Basically, his powers are as follows:

  • Emits storm clouds from the stacks on his back which he can use as camouflage. The clouds also serve as “cover” from which he can attack without being harmed.
  • Draws energy from the environment, charges, and releases it in one large thunder clap which shakes the screen and stuns MegaMan if he is on the ground.
  • Can shoot harmful “vibration rays” from his eye which paralyze MegaMan for three seconds.
  • Can hurl devestating lighting attacks from his Storm Cannon

I might refine some of the details a bit, but overall I think I’m liking it for the most part!

Interesting… but it doesn’t look very Megamanish. Just my opinion though.

#3

…imo its has a lot from megaman.
looks like an eminently bad guy, like an endboss!

cant wait to see the model.

#4

ohh I like this design, kinda like a tech up version of the black demon mixed with aqua man.

I like I like

#5

nice design! this one looks like it’ll be a lot of fun to model and texture!

(though it reminds me a little of metriod :P)

Thanks for the feedback, everybody. In an effort to make him seem a tad more “MegaMan-y,” I rounded-out the design a bit more, giving it some of that bubble quliaty that most of the old-school MegaMan characters had. I also avoided using alot of DARK colors as i had originally intended, keeping more to the “colorful” motif. (Note: This design is minus the stacks and repulsors that will be on his back)

#7

That is looking extremely sweet. I can’t wait to see this one modeled.

#8

Wow! killer design! he definately does look more menacing than the average stage boss

#9

im diging the concept, the only thing I wanna just say is a bit off, is the crotch piece haning so low…like all the megaman characters always wear like robotic man thongs.

But Other than that , I think the concept is killer, and I hope to see more work soon!

#10

I’m digging the loincloth actually!

The second version looks much more megaman-y than the first while retaining the concept of the original. Looks awesome!

#11

It’s supposed to be a decorative sash piece of sorts … with armor trim. However … I may end up tweaking it a bit, but who knows.

Still working on perfecting the design! I’ll post up more as soon as I finish more variations on the design.

Thanks everybody :buttrock:

That reminds me so much of MegaMan X4, and in a very good way.

Your design is looking really sweet, but I gotta agree with Seforin about the loincloth. It’s the only piece of cloth on an entirely metallic design, so it kinda sticks out. Now, if cloth could be worked into the design elsewhere, I’d be pleased (not a requirement ;)), but of course, it’s totally up to you.

Or maybe if it were just shorter…?

freakin’ good concept!
the only thing that bother me is i had to read its thunder-man, it doesnt looks like thunder-man. i mean beside the two little lightning signs on his chest of course (but its green?), i dont like the color-theme. i wouldnt use green or red colors. black, white, gray, blue, violet or purple, yellow-(just a little) is enough i think. i know its just a sketch (a really good one) and nothing is final yet.

#14

chumble-spuzz: Yeah, MegaMan X4 is my favorite MegaMan game of all time, so that’s probably why some of that is showing through.

yannes: The difficult thing about designing a thunder character is that “thunder,” in it’s true definition, is nothing more than a sonic shock wave. In the end, the only visual cue that even begins to relate the character to thunder is the lighting symbolism found on his chest. I had originally thought that using alot of darker, somber storm colors would help, so perhaps I will go back in and play around with the color pallette and see what I can come up with.

Thanks!

#15

nice.

badass concept, hope u can get that to translate well.

#16

No problem.

i like the concept a lot, I think that the colors and the obvious lighting bolt design do make him look like a thunderman.
the only thing that seems a tad off is that you have the legs(boots) with a very intricate, overlaping metal material, but you don’t have that detail consistency on the rest of the character. All other detail seems slapped on or overtly simple(hands). Personally I like both looks but not the way you have them together, I would either put back that boot detail on the rest of him or take it off to better match the simpler look, or maybe go with a happier middle. just a thought:)

#18

Very nice concept.

System404: I completely agree. At this point, I’m more or less still in the “playing around” phase, where I’m still a little undecided on which exact direction I want to go in. I’ll definitely keep your comment in mind, though, as I’m proceeding.

Thanks

Here’s an updated concept of Thunderman (minus his arm cannon and rear repulsors) done by a buddy of mine. It’s a pretty good interpretation of what I’m going for, though the proportions will be more akin to, say, Burnerman.
