I’m not sure which one I’m going to do yet but here are my concept sketches for MacMan and TrojanMan.

I vote for Trojan Man  .

Here’s what I have done so far.

If his face is going to be in the horse’s neck, I would understate the horse’s head and enlarge the face–I think that’ll be easier to read. As it stands, I find myself looking more at the horse head ornament and not where the face is going to go.

Sweet concept, though! Keep it up!

Will do. Trojan Man it is.

Thank you, I’ll do my best. I’m new to this though
it’s my first time posting anything I’ve done in a forum.

The horse head is meant to intimidating. I don’t want it to overrule the face too much though. Have a look at my update and you will see how I plan on making the face pop from behind the helmet. I love crits, keep’em coming.

UPDATE:

Here is a quick texture test on the head. It’s also my first attempt at using a glow map in Maya. I think it’s turning out great so far. Also, a little body work thrown in. I noticed my above image was a bit large so I down sized to 800px.

lookin’ good so far.
will the horse head (and some armour parts) be wood-like?

#8

Thank you.

I was going to go for a more robotic look (hense the ears with vent holes) but I guess it will all be decided come texture time. I’ll have to see how the model comes together first.

I still think the horse head is commanding too much attention. There must be a way to accentuate the head without taking so much attention away from the face. Google “trojan warrior” and “hellenic art.” There’s a few helmet ideas there that still exclaim “trojan!” but don’t steal the show. If the horse head was more iconic than realistic (as the MegaMan art style allows  ), that is, more of an engraving, relief, or ornament than a full blown bust–something to indicate but not overstate–then that would free up the attention that the face isn’t getting, and it would probably look really cool. People like icons!

That is some really good and usefull advise. I’ll continue on (for now) and if I get enough time, I will make an alternate head with the improvements you suggested. At the moment, I’m worried about not having enough time to rig Trojan Man up. We’ll see.
