Guess I’m entering since I needed to do an interior for my current game project anyway. However, I’m going to feel rather out of place compared to the rest. They have cool “midevil” themes and other such ideas to move their designs along. I have… well, a dance game compatible stage.

The basic idea is a club style setting mixing some of the contemporary art themes along with a rather organic flow to the architecture. Of course we’re talking huge screens (thankfully these are shots so I don’t have to kill the texture limits with the fully planned “visualisations” sequences so thank goodness for small blessings), bright strobes, and if I can figure how how to code it in, even fog machines. And of course the ultimate in trendy techno accessories, blue neon.

Edited because I wanted to get the ugly out of my entry. When I get home tonight, I will be posting what I have so far.

what is a .rgb file? I’ve never seen them before.

http://www.scs.fsu.edu/~burkardt/data/rgb/rgb.html

I had to use them in my job and got turned onto them. They are slightly smaller than Bitmap but apparently do not have the color range or something along those lines. For a game engine, a .rgb can get you quite far but for a render, something of higher quality (past a bitmap even) may be desired. You, on average, see about 20% less space taken up by a .rgb than a bitmap. And Photoshop has a plug-in to save as. .rgb can also hold alpha data so if you do have a 3D package that doesn’t choke on Alpha, rgb is the prefered method. For me, anyway.

That red backdrop makes my eyes hurt. :frowning:

#6

I sympathize. Trust me. But I needed a bright background that wasn’t white to make sure my alpha was working. Trust me, this is NOT indicative of the final area. I’m hoping by the end of the weekend, I’ll have something more detailed to be put.

Okay, keep in mind that EVERYTHING in these shots are properly rigged and UV mapped, some even have textures, just not assigned yet. So everything pictured has SDK sequences rigged and ready to roll. Currently missing are stools, DJ Mix tables, light rigging, and fully stocked bar. Light Rigging is currently being rigged to handle a variety of animation commands. About halfway through on that (currently 20 animation sequences are set).

These are full stage shots.

There you go, a full update although I would have preferred to wait until I had some textures slapped on but I have to show SOMETHING if I was to request the extra week.

#10

Hey man looks great so far. I just wanted to say it’s always a good idea to post WIP before you texture. It is really a pain in the ass to go back and fix geometry after you begin texturing.

#11

Actually, it was more along the lines of wanting to put more objects in before beginning to texture. That way I could balance to hit my budget rather than starting to texture and discovering I blew a budget on polygons.

Tonight before heading to class, I’ll post what I have so far. After class, I’ll be burning the midnight oil (literally… I have a cat named Midnight and I’ll be setting ablaze all the oil I could squeeze from him) so hopefully, by 2am (aka, 12am Pacific), I’ll have at least some renders. However, I know I cannot get the animation done but I’ll leave a slot to link to that on my submission.

#13

lol about the midnight oil thing

You can do it

#14

Animation isn’t required, just stills.

#15

The animation will be shown. Why? Because the scene was built and rigged for animation. That was the purpose of the entire environment. Doing a scene like this and not animating it is like painting a Gundam Kit on the tree and just never assembling it…

#16

And here is a bit of a teaser…

#17

Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t get it completely lit in time for the deadline. I have it all built and textured (for the most part) but just not lit. I will be killing this project off tonight, though. So I’ll post finals in this thread and, provided Ghostcsape will allow it (even though I don’t expect to be judged), the submissions thread as well.
