UGAC - Master Chamber - Shadow Spoon

#1

Im in as well for the first time!

Concept:
Genre: Fantasy - Medieval - 1st person. Something like Thief.
Location: Abandoned monastery setting.

These monks are kind of special. They are fascinated by mechanics and precision engineering. So they got a HUGE clock in their church chamber. They “recharge” a large spring by using counterweights that go deep, deep into the abyss. In the chamber at the 1st floor they have a library and a drawing office. This is where they concieve new mechanical wonders.

Pictures comming as soon as I get them uploaded!

Well here we go. 18057 tris so far. Going to waste the last 2K on some more papers, books and get some counterweights added.

Nice work so far, keep it up!

Got any sketches or something that gives an idea of how the final image is going to turn out?

Thanks Dizzim

It isn’t one single image but a room we are going to make. Multiple images will be used to show it. But I should maybe draw some sketches so people understand my idea.

This is my floor and wall texture so far. Im trying to figure out normal mapping, but in the meantime ill just have to do with regular bump. Any C&C welcome.

The floor looks a bit heavy on the depth, more like a stacked wall brick than a floor. I can only imagine people tripping over the brick edges regularly. Try smoothing out this surface a bit (flattening). Possibly change it to a larger, more structurally supportive slabs placed very tightly together. This will also help the believability of holding up the large columns in the room. Overall, I just don’t see this small stonework being the base for such a large interior. Nevertheless, it could work fine on a wall (if that’s what you really meant it for, my bad). :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmm, my idea was to use that tex. both for the wall and the floor, and then overlay with some other textures around the pillars, to support them. But I defently get your point here. I will try to set it up as I intended and then see if it still looks bad.

Are you going to be able to complete this by the deadline of August 17th? If not, there is a vote in the Rules thread about extending the deadline by a week if it will help you complete this!
