Two different opinions about wacom tablets

#1

Hello,

I hear few opinions about wacom tablets. I am trying to choose one. I am starting with drawing and in near future it will be more hobby. I am drawing with left hand(if this information somehow make reason what to choose).

I will work from one place, using 24" monitor. All people recommend me at least medium size of tablet, so do you think is it good advice (personally i think it is good, because i can draw with no limitations).

The main reason is why i am here writing is if I should choose
Intuos pen&touch medium http://www.wacom.com/en/de/creative/intuos-m
OR
Intuos Pro medium http://www.wacom.com/en/de/creative/intuos-pro-m

Some people says that pro version is annoying with buttons (very hard to push compared to keyboard) and practically useless.

Other people say that intuos pen & touch have low resolution and with combination of low level of pressures it is not good and it is worth to buy intuos pro. Something like lines per inch (LPI) is associated with levels of pressure and it is just not “real 1024 levels” on intuos pen & touch (because of low LPI).

So…what should i choose and why?

I dont want to spend too much money BUT i dont want to buy something which can pu me some limits and just generally what i hear, people are satisfied with good resolutions and levels of pressure on intuos Pro - other says that you not see difference when you draw (between 1024 and 2048 and worst/better resolution).

So where is true? Thank you!

Well I think you would find many answers for this kind of question, but here is one quick. From my personal point of view pro is the way. It just always easier when you have the right tools. At the end if you going to improve and do much more work you will definitively benefit from Intuos pro, if not you will sure sell better this one :).

From technical side, drawing feels much more fluid and natural on pro . Thats it …its best to try for yourself, if you not gona like it …return it  > solved.

I have the previous version of the pro. It is an excellent product and I would recommend going with it. You can adjust the pressure sensitivity curve to your liking.

That being said, I find it absolutely infuriating to draw with. Since I’m not looking at the tablet when I’m drawing I have trouble hitting the spot that I intend to touch the pen to. I usually miss my a little bit. Also, there is the awkwardness of not being able to rotate your hands around the canvas like you would be able to with paper.

This is problem with all tablets. I’ve been using the tablet for two years off and on and haven’t been able to get the hang of it. To really get to know your tablet you need to disconnect your mouse and use the tablet exclusively for 1-3 months.

Now that screens and tablets are becoming cheaper I would seriously consider one of the tablets that you can draw on directly. Its not ideal, but a friend sold me a Lenovo x200 with a wacom digitizer for $100. Looks like they are available on ebay from 100-200. Its not a great computer, and its not the highest quality wacom digitizer compared to what is available today. However, I don’t have to go through the pain of exclusively using the tablet for 3 months before I can draw something I’m happy with. As a person who doesn’t do this full time with a “real job” that limits the time I have to spend on my own interests, the ability to see directly what I’m drawing is a huge factor in enjoying my time spent drawing digitally.

If as you say your intended use is hobby, the cheaper Wacom is more than capable.

Get the pro, period. If you buy the Intuos(used to be named Bamboo), you will want to upgrade in the future again. Get the pro you will use it for 10+ years without regret. IMO.

Ok, I will take PRO version. Thanks everybody for contribution.
