tutorials on shading for sakuga animation

#1

Hi.
Sooo… I’ve asked around the web now, looked every bit up there is… and theres quite NOTHING out there that would teach someone how to shade a cube like this thing from evangelion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdU8dyjgXU0&t=1m07s
People mentioned it would be a cel shader but then again nobody could really explain much to me.
sooo… yeah. What i’m looking for is a tutorial on how to color something EXACTLY this way. I need that knowledge.

Then on the other hand, last talk about anything sakuga related on here was 4 years ago so my hopes are low.

From here it looks like colored glass but its reflecting a toon shaded environment.
Thats what i would start with anyway.
There are tutorials for both aspects out there for many software.

Try Cinema4D’s Sketch and Toon. Its good for stuff like that.

Otherwise, any cel shader / toon shader for any 3D soft should be able to do something like this.

You’ve basically got inked black polygon edges here, what looks like a translucent interior object (could be fluids), and they set the whole thing’s environment reflection to reflect a sphere with toon-shaded white clouds on it.

Not very hard to do.

oh yeah that cloud sphere i saw in the blender animation.

However, I still got no idea how to do that so if you got any tutorials that precisely contain education on that topic, I’m glad to see them all.
