that’s really useful tutuorial, ecpically for begginers like me:)
I like it alot…

how the texture look (bumped or not flat) in the high lighted area? do you use more than one color for the brush or…???

I used a different color, a torquise, to bring out the highlights more, I think I set it to color dodge as well. Hope this helps.

oh thanks i tried different blending modes…but i didn’t get a good rsult…may be i should try more…

i used threshold to make the brush…but i have black and white brush (not grayscale as that in the tutorial)…i use photoshop 7…what’s the problem?

Mohammed, using texture brushes takes a while to get a feel for it. Keep on practicing, don’t get discouraged. To bring out highlights more, use a very high opacity at different blend modes; Experiment with soft light, vivid light, and color dodge.

The tutorial applies to Photoshop CS2, not sure why it’s not working for you. You can always delete the white part of the texture, and make a brush of the black parts. Feel from to message me via AIM (slickgreekgeo) or MSN (slickgreekgeo@hotmail.com) for additional help.

Thanks for the great tutorial Slick. I’ve always wondered how other artists get such fine texturing in their paintings. I knew there had to be a trick to it all… and now I know that trick. Thanks a bunch, can’t wait to give this technique a try.

Thanks Khanh. It took me a while to master this technique and I was quite fustrated that there weren’t any good texturing tutorials (in terms of using brushes), so I’m glad this helps.
