tutorial "guided_missile_trails" CPU slows down100%

#1

Hi
Has anyone made the tutorial “guided_missile_trails”?
I tried last night…but Max slows down intensivly after using “by travel distance” in the Spawn test. If I move the timeslider just one frame, the systemCPU goes up to 100%. Is that normal? I use MAX7 on a Windows PC with 3.2 ghz and 1GB RAM. And an ATI X800 Graphic card. Where is the problem?

oh man…I hate such problems.
Thanks for every help!

you prolly need a larger page(swap) file. when it starts to render, look at thre render information dialogue and see what the numbers are by P and V, V is virtual memory. if it’s really huge, then that MAY be your issue.

HI

I didnt render the scene. Just wanted to see the animation in the viewport and moved the timeslider.

maybe your having your particles spawn more than one (maybe several) particles each frame. if the particle system is huge, it will slow down your computer.

Every time when you change settings, PFlow make refresh. If you drag a spinner to change a value, PFlow refresh several times (for PFlow you make several changes). Progress of refresh may see at bottom Status line on MAX. It’ s very discomfortable for work.
Usually I put a Cache operator after Render, with Manual refresh.
