TUTORIAL - Digital Anatomy Painting by Amerasu

Big load ahead!

Here is my digital painting method for figures as requested by Rebecca. This is just one painting method of many out there but it works nicely for me. I use low opacity combined with a textured brush in Photoshop. My goal is realism, or as close as I can get at least :slight_smile:

EDIT: Can someone tell me where to get good Brushes from? I just started and realised my brushes suck for this. A Link to a download would be great

I will just try to use default ones. I dont know what I am looking for and Im sure I can maybe get byfrom just using the brushes that come with Photoshop to paint

I quite like the airbrush myself…I tend to set it to a low opacity and flow ~ 50% each or lower. You can also append plenty of other brushes (they should be defaults, no need to look for tons more really).

The brushes that I use are Photoshop defaults, in Dry Media Brushes.

thanks for the awesome tutorial! Got me inspired to do some painting :D. I could never get the look in photoshop, that I could with painter. Do you have any tips on getting photoshop brushes to have the look of painter, or is that impossible?

Thanks Lee! I know what you mean and I really don’t know the answer. I’ve tried a few times to emulate Painter in Photoshop but I’ve never been too successful. I think it might be possible but I don’t know the answer. I’ve had limited success with a watercolour look but not oil.
