I am a student and have an older version of Zbrush on my home computer, while in class the computers have a newer version. My teacher told me to create a displacement map of my sculpt on the newer computer and that way I could apply it on my home computer and the map would be translated into sculpt detail. However, I can’t find any tutorials on this. Is this even a thing?
Turning a displacement map into sculpt detail?

It would help if we knew what older version of ZBrush you are using. Also, have you considered upgrading ZBrush as its free to do so?

step 1
tool>texture map>new txtr
alpha >import
tool>displacement map> click the blank big square box and select your alpha imported map
tool>displacement map>disp ON
tool>displacement map> intensity slider is moved
you must have UV for this to work, if no uv make them threw zplugin uv master and you must do this first before going threw step 1
i dont know if this will work for your version but try this, save this as a txt document then use zscript load and click the the bottom tutorial view button or hotkey H and press play
