Transparent Background in Photoshop

I have a quick question.

I poked around a bit in Photoshop and I tried to find an answer in the Photoshop Help Program.

But I thought I would also post this question here.

How do you set the transparent background color in a GIF file?

Until somebody who really knows chimes in:

I would have guessed maybe the current background color but in Elements 2 on the Save For Web dialog there is a “Matte” color button which may be the thing.
