Transfering specular and other non standard maps from High res to low res?

Hey everyone,

Been working with High poly to render so far and I’ve started exploring low res asset creation.

Does anyone know if its possible to transfer more than normal + diffuse maps using maya’s transfer maps tool?

I’d like to be able to model, and fully texture a high res model with maps plugged into a few different slots on a blinn, phong, whatever and then be able to transfer ALL those maps to a new low res mesh, with different uv’s, etc.

Is this possible?
A better way to do this perhaps?
