Tracking Questions

#1

hello cgsociety community,
i´m new here and also new at tracking. so i hope it´s ok to ask some noob questions?!

my questions are about the film back settings and the focal length.
first question:
my footage is filmed with canon rebel t2 (eos 550d in europe) and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or alternatively in 1280 x 720. the canon rebel t2 chip size is 22.3 x 14.9 mm.

when i type in the filmback size (22.3 x 14.9) i get a display aspect of: “1.49664” and a pixel aspect of: “0.841862”. but i think this is wrong because the 16:9 display aspect have to be “1.78”. And the pixel aspect from hd footage have to be square pixel with the value “1.00”.

so what is the right input value, for the rebel t2 filmback, in the tracking software?

second question:
my footage is filmed with focal length 20.0 mm. do i have to multiply this falue with the crop-factor 1.6. so i have to type in “32 mm” as focal length in my tracking software? is the focal length of my camera = focal length from my tracking program? or is something else meant by the focal length in the tracking software?

i hope this is not to stupid and confusing and you know what i mean. sorry for my poorly english…

thanks a lot for your help!!! :wavey:
