tracing a circle?

Hi all,

I need to trace the path of a circle, or of a bit more complex shape in After effects (or preferably Premiere). As in this video ( http://www.vimeo.com/1028218) seen at about 48 seconds in. Could someone explain this seemingly simple procedure?

Effect --> Generate --> Stroke, apply to circular mask and animate End parameter.
Effect --> Generate --> Circle + Effect --> Transition --> Radial Wipe
Shape Layer --> Ellipse+Stroke+Trim Paths Modifier
