Tornados in Prague

Hey guy’s,
I have new wip of that Prague matte I started. I decide to do a destruction of he city with some story. I thought that Prague matte I started will be okay, but there is a lot of destroyed cityscapes in the same way. And I’ve been watching Discovery channel (survival month) and there I get this idea. So if you have any comments, crits. or anything else, please post it!

Hey degerardo, i think you’ve done a good job integrating the tornados into the city, not an easy thing to do.

My main crit is with the lighting on some of the roofs of the buildings. It appears as if some of them are being lit as if from midday sunshine, whereas the sky above is dark and overcast (as you would expect from a tornado storm). I think this lighting is obviously a hangover from the original plate that just needs correcting.

Some of the sky sections also need blending more, as there are a few unnatural sharp edges around, eg on the right hand side of the image…overall though the sky is looking pretty good.

Btw i think its a good thing that you deliberately posted a wip. I think too many people post only finished images and so it can be too late to correct any fundamental issues that they didn’t catch during production. Keep it up :slight_smile:

Thank you for your tips. I see what you mean. Here I started to clean it up + add more detials of destruction (fire, destroyed roofs etc.) Now I am going to clean these guys up and add more atmosphere of smoke (tornados, dust, etc. - it needs to be smoky) :slight_smile:

great looking image, cause you have some moving action on it you will need to make it more convincing , you need debris in each tornado , having a lot of structures being destroyed there must be a lot of debris flying around

the people in the plaza looks like they don’t care about the destruction, maybe you could paint them out and put some guys running away from the tornados or chaotic crowds

Ou yes, thanks Jamie! Of course :slight_smile: I am going to clear them out(people). Also I am going to add those flying parts of the roofs, some objects etc. Also I am going to put close to the camera some flying parts of the buildings with motion blur. :slight_smile: I have it in my mind. :slight_smile: Thank you very much Jamie. Good work, wanted to comment about all these people standing there but you are going to cut them out :slight_smile:

I think if this would be seen on tv or a movie, it would work!

here is another wip. I remove all people from the street,I add more fire into the tornado for better dramatic look and also I add flying debris etc. Now I am going to work better on tornados (as I started on the main one) and destroy more the roofs, houses etc. but not too much to keep the scene more clear to read it.

I’m not sure weather you want to go photoreal or more illustrative with this one, but I think the tornado blue is too saturated. But the image is shaping up nicely.

Hey Gerardo! Good to see this new piece, hope you are doing well.
I think your final result looks great, nice colours and a very cinematic feel to it. I think some time spent destroying the foreground would make a lot of difference though. It seems with so much debris flying around that there would be more destruction in the foreground. Shattered glass, broken tiles, burning building parts etc i would expect to see around that area.

Yes, I know, thank you :slight_smile:

But I wanted to keep it clear (people left their homes and run away) and point it as a part where the tornado going to. And because of the buildings, (this part is still covered by them) I didn’t put destruction are there yet. I’ve been thining about that but I just decide to keep it clear.
But you’re right about that. I’ve been thinking about that :slight_smile: really…
and here is some photo I am going to use for the next one. I am going to do a new thread here :slight_smile:
