Topology question

Hello everyone !

I’ve been testing out some things while I was hard surface modeling, and I got stuck on a problem.

I was wondering which topology was considered best and which one would you recommend between those 2

as you can see, the left one looks “better”, yet connects to more loops outwards (like the outter has 20 vertices) than the right one (that only has a square of 16 vertices). The second one tho looks a little bit … odd. Both have a similar result What do you guys think ??

I’d use the one on the left, but if you want to reduce the edge verts you can do this.

Alright. My god why am I stupid.

I’ve been using what you just did, when I was modeling, and when I started doing my topology test I just … messed up those 2 extra verticals and 2 extra horizontals loops you corrected… I have absolutely no clue why so yeah… i was doing it your way the whole time. I’m sorry I wasted your time for something so futile and unnecessary --’
