Hello. Long time reader (when I have issues) first time poster.
Here is my problem. I’ve been creating an environment in maya based off of the area surrounding the Planet Express Headquarters building in the show futurama. My project is at the point where I am creating vehicles to populate the level to make it a bit more seemingly living. The problem i’m running into is that I created a ramp shader for the Slurm logo on the side of the slurm truck I’m working on that consists of one texture for when that side is directly lit and one for when that side is isn’t directly lit. I set it up just like all my other toon ramp shaders except with textures instead of just a solid color at each of the two transition points. All my other shaders render out just fine but for some reason this one that I have created only renders correctly if I use maya software. When I use Hardware 2.0 to render it that side just comes out black regardless of whether it’s in the light or in the dark. Now the lazy part of me would like to just use software instead of trying to trouble shoot this issue but Hardware 2.0 renders out much cleaner outlines and is the only renderer where my background transparencies work correctly so what I really need is to figure out why it is that this doesnt work in Hardware 2.0 so I can get back to making assets.
