Is there a tool in XSI that makes a 2d object “thick” like the shell modifier in max ?
Tool similiar to "shell" from Max ?

Did you try “transform components independently in local mode”. It can be a little slow sometimes but it’s worked for me. You just need to remember to make a duplicate object to create either the shell going outward or in inward, extrude then move the extrusion with “transform components independently in local mode” activated and merge the two objects.
If you have Modo or silo those also have shell tools.
