Okay so I just finished Bobby Chiu’s Digital Painting Class and I’m really excited to get started on some new works. See what I can do with this new knowledge…
Here’s the Final from the class reworked from the class critique. I’ll have this in the finished 2D area and my portfolio shortly.
And here’s a new one I’ve started on. Thinking this is nearing the final lighting set up and such. Any critique would be great!

Funny pictures, Especially the second one.
The first one is not quite working for me, I love the back ground, but it feels something is missing for the main figure. He ( or she) looks sad or scared but there seems to be no reason for it. it makes the image a bit hollow, imho
Also it do not follow the nose thing on his head. the thing under his eye seems to be a nose, ( might be my mistake) but than there is also a pink thing on the normal nose. if it is just skin than I would put some wrinkles in it to show its not a second nose…
the second one is adorable. only thing that took some time is the eyes of the little mousses. I thirst though they were open but makes more sense if there not, so… my suggestion would be to make them darker like the actual fur/skin
Second I would like to point out the mouse hole is missing some dept, the wall seems to be as thick as paper.
But keep up the work

Lios, thanks for the feedback! On the first character, I think I’m at the point where I need to move on and do some new works so he’s pretty much done. (already submitted on the Final 2D forum as well) I agree that it’s a bit dull, I had planned to add a shell neacklace and a surf board to spice it up and add a point to him but was defeated with perspective on the surf board… perhaps another day. The nose is meant to be a large human like nose with the nostrils on the face and the rest of the nose extrooding off the face. I think because I added fur(it’s cold there) to the top it lost it’s readability.
On the second work, I will add depth to the wall hole on the final run, I had an inside wall chunk on there at one point, think I may have accidentally removed the layer with that.
As for the eyes, I wanted to give the mice a “WOW, look at that cheese” look of awe so I will keep them opened and focused on the cheese. I should have an update on the Cheese Monster out shortly.

Nice work man! Love the concept of the snow creature a lot. The detail in him is great. In regards to the cheese image… maybe you could round out the mouse whole a little bit to get rid of those jaggy edges. Keep up the fanstastic work!
I like what you’ve got here. I think that the area between his back leg and and his body could us a bit more depth. Also the mouse in the middle seems very flat and unrefined. Possibly an issue with the shadow of the mouse in the foreground. Only a minute to chat but i like what I see.

Long Over due update… It is progress. I did a mouse! Need to add the final hair pass and a pupil on him, but progress nuntheless. Fluffy new carpet too!

So I’m going to try and finish thisd up tonight to submit to an Art Contest tomorrow
Any thoughts would be great!! I still need to add a final hair layer to the mice, and I’m still working on the middle one. Nopticing I may need to move the wall away from the characters a bit too. It doesn’t look like the cheese would have room to fit where it is now.

Just got finished illustrating a kids book about a newly minted Penny and the adventures he goes on. My first kids book, pretty fun. Photoshop and Illustrator
So here’s where I’m at now, I had a crunch between the kids book and the cheese monster that was due for an art contest. Here’s my submitted work. Still looking to improve on it though… Here’s where I’m at. Any thoughts?
These are a couple works I made for my bathroom, it was a bit plain, This first is an original artwork, I made it while messing around in Illustrator and trying out a new style
The second is a remake of a picture I had found at the thrift store that had been hanging in my bathroom already. No name or I’d give credit… just wanted to spice it up to the others style and play in my new CS3 Illustrator and Photoshop. And huge thanks to UrbanDirty.com for the bg textures
