Timewarp(ing) a jump so it's faster

#1

My bosses are busy so I thought I’d post quick, probably simple question here in hopes of finding the right answer. I have a mocap scene that I’ve plotted to a control rig and edited. I’m still learning MB’s ins and outs, but I’ve successfully edited the scene to at least first-pass quality: it’s a guy running a couple steps, jumping over something, and landing.

My lead has asked that I use a time warp to make the jump a bit faster. I know how to implement a timewarp curve, but I’m not sure which node I should use with it. If I pick the HipsEffector, the timewarp curve doesn’t do anything at all. But if I apply it to say, an ankle or wrist effector, it works visibly, and instantly.

My question is, is there a standard MB “master” node that I can timewarp to adjust the whole motion using the curve? Or is it going to vary rig to rig?

Hi KevinKraeer,

If U want to make the whole character animation bit faster, U need to do something like that: select ALL children nodes under your control rig reference node, then go to FCurve editor, choose ALL translation and rotation channels for your selected nodes, create new time wrap curve and press Apply button (this will connect time wrap curve to translation, rotation channels of your selected nodes). Now U can unselect all and work with time wrap curve. When U finish, U need to repeat your nodes selection, plot animation (main menu->plor on selection) and then delete time wrap curve in FCurve editor.
That’s it, wope it’ll help!

Neill,

PERFECT. I knew it had to be something that I just didn’t know about on account of my noobness.

Thanks for your help!
