Thinking Particles \ Particles avoiding object as particles

#1

I’m just starting to learn TP and was hoping someone can help me out with the best way about having particles avoid and move around geometry that has been converted to Particles.

I want the “Passing” particles to be emitted from a plane and to be restricted to the volume of the box. The RED bit of geometry are to be particles as well ( I want to control their rotation procedurally ) The “Passing” particles are to go forward and move / avoid the red particles as they pass by.

I’ve set op everything so for but am stuck getting the “passing”particles to avoid the Red ones. I’ve played around this the PpassAB / distance / and repulsion nodes but , the result has just been the “passing” particles moving the red ones.

The Blue arrows show how I would like the particle to move around the red ones.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Collision avoidance is a very interesting subject. If you look at the TP forum, you’ll find interesting discussions there. You can use different approaches - from the simple ones like using repelling forces on the coords of the particles to be avoided, to the complex ones like realizing the vector math from collision avoidance algorhytms in TP. Depends on what kind of behavior you want for your case, I’d say - use the force method.

Thanks Hristo,

I’m still stuck haveing particles that have been converted from geo to have a proper radius (for repultion).
I plugged a AAassAB with a distance and force, but not getting good results.

Pretty sure we are going to buy TP next week at work  I’m loving it,
Just been knocked back by how badass TP is. Only have public access at the moment for Cebas and CGFliuds.Hopefully by next week everything will be sorted and posting on CGFluids
Meet you there
