This maybe due to my ignorance but everytime I want to hide something like the biped guide, I have to go to every bone, every node in their subtree to hide them individually, which is way too time consuming for such a simple task. Is there an alternate way to do this?
the hiding system in softimage 7.5 is stupid or what?
There are three ways that I know of. You can tree-select the whole thing (right-click on any part of the guide), which should select the whole hierarchy, then hide as usual. You can also put the guide in a layer and then set the visibility on the layer itself. Or you can put it in a group, which is similar to layers, but not quite. The online help does a good job of explaining both.
Do yourself a favor and look up some of the basic VAST training or the like on getting started with XSI.

It will save you a lot of frustration and prevent “click and learn” which can kill one in every five kittens and one in six puppies.
Thanks very much! The link is no longer working but I believe that the tutorials can be found here:
