The Golden Mean & Multipage Spreads

#1

hi all,

Forgive the ignorant question, but I haven’t had any formal training and can’t find an answer via search here or elsewhere.

When composing an image with a binding seam in the middle (i.e. to be printed across two facing pages), is it best to:

  1. compose the image as if it were going to be seen as a flat picture (i.e. double-wide over the two pages), and use the standard golden mean crosspoints for possible foci? or…

  2. compose by only considering the crosspoints for a single page of the two-page spread?

Hopefully the question is clear even if my explanation wasn’t… and thanks in advance for any help.
