Thanks for the props Alex… I checked out your site… you have some seriously wicked concept art (among other things!) going on there.
Nice work!
Cheers,
AJE

We’re hacks, nothing else, our art direction is pretty good, but I’m very very impressed with what you guys have actually accomplished so far. I’ll be watching this thread with interest. Sci-Fi is one of my passions.
Boobie!
This is a great track man! Can’t wait for the complete version! This is a style we could also consider for TGS. I was thinking about a epic orchestral score but something new-age, ambient electronic stuff could also definitely work. I’ve been working with mix/master techniques for getting a realistic sounding orchestra. Still in the beginfase though but it’s getting somewhere. Here’s a demo:

Could also be something interesting, especially the string-, brasseffects in the beginning.
Cheers,
-Sid.
boobie, sid
amazing music
i cant begin to express how cool i think it is
both of you are such brilliant artist and i concider my self to be lucky to be in the same team
wich i must say goes for the entire team we have here
with both tracks i can realy visualise events that should take place while hearing them
personaly i think that both styles of music could work fantastic with in this given project
as you might have guessed from the picture with the babies… i’m a bit busy
this is also the reason i am behind on my own time table
this is for the next to do list:
the model for character Sparks needs to be finished (im working on this)
gun fire sounds (i think that was covered already by boobie)
sounds for a fighter jet doing a fly by heared from the ground
earth force suit designs for high ranking persons
earth force insignia desings
pistol for Sparks
I’ll second that… music being such an integral part of a project like this, I’m thrilled that you guys are on board!
Cheers,
AJE
Both are really good!![]()
Sid:
on your piece, I like the part of the picking violin (at least that’s what I think it is.) at the beggining. That would be cool if you could string that out just a little more for some added suspense. It’s really erie.
AJE: I know we haven’t contacted eachother in a while. I haven’t done much with the site as of late cause I’ve been really busy. One thing that’s on my localhost thats not on TGS is the updated version of the Image System. I’ll upload that soon… as in tonight. I’ll try and get that CREW page done tonight as well. BTW remember if we need to make more usernames/passwords just email me with the details, and I’ll set it up.
Good work to everyone aboard! This project is really making progress, even with the minor setbacks.
For those keeping tabs on us, while we might sometimes drift off the first page, rest assured progress is being made. Our core group is in the process kicking it up a notch…
Results soon.
Cheers,
AJE
Hey great job guys! And madkarma! Long time I didn’t talk to you! I’ll e-mail ya soon:) Great job!
Just wanted to say hello, it was much appreciated having you drop by my project.I just wanted to return the gesture.
So whats the game plan for this project at this point. What is the first milestone you are working towards.
Or are you just making random models that you think look kool.Until you think you have enough stuff to work with ?
See you around CGtalk, PEACE.
Hey man, thanks for stopping by!
Thanks SD!

Our goal at this point is a finished trailer, music samples, plenty of asset renders and concept art to be put into a package to be pitched to excecutive producers for feature or mini-series funding.
Every model that you see with a texture on it has a purpose. I don’t go past the blocking stage if it isn’t working. Textures signify that the textured part is going to stay.
Cheers,
AJE
PS – what apps are you guys using?
My next question would be, what kind of pre-production have you done
as far as animatics go. I find it helps to do raw block animation with simple
shapes or models and edit it to music just to get the flow down and to see
what is really needed, so I wont have to model stuff that you may never see.
Because even the trailer has to tell a good story. Or is your trailer going to
be more of a demo reel where you just show model turnarounds and concepts?
On the last model you posted of the ARROW III WIP…
The grey square panel texture, may look a bit better if you put
a rivet in each corner of each square , it will make the panels look
a bit more functional , instead of it just looking like random grey squares.
It will give it a look like they were put there for a purpose maybe for
access for repairing the ship
just an idea feel free to ignore it.
Oh on my project I use 3DS MAX 7. The skin morph modifier
is a life saver for me, when it comes to character stuff.
And I use After Affects for compositing and editing.
Full trailer… MK and I are treating this like a proper production. Some animatics have already happened (and that’s all I’ll say about that for now
). Shot outlines, thumbnails, storyboards, lieca reel, animatic, animation… the whole nine yards will be employed for the full trailer. Good planning and a clear vision allows for ease of success and completion. That’s the main reason why there hasn’t been tons of activity on the thread over the last few days… planning is happening, and we’re working the marketing into the plans as we go.
<<< AJE is no rookie.
Ya, the ship model is a WIP, and the textures are far from final… they’ll be done right, don’t worry. This is a no compromise project for a lot of us at TGS. That said, I do agree that there should be a ‘reason’ for the panels to be there… logic in design is important to me… it helps with suspension of disbelief for the audience later on, and all that starts when the pencil hits the paper, right in the beginning. The file is all layered in PS so it’ll be a snap to drop in the new panel layer when I can get to it.
Just curious. I’m not really a Max fan, but I’m not an app snob either. You’re pulling great results out of it. It’s good to see!
Cheers,
AJE
wow AJE thats really cool :bounce:
i hope i´ll get my machine back workin…that i can be as active as you x)
I joined the project some days ago and here’s my first input… It’s a hasty scetch about a freeman colony with an Egyptian/Moroccan feel to it. I hope I got it somewhere near how you imagine it, AJE?

Just wanted to add that I find this very, very inspiring. I’m writing a script for a sci-fi space show pilot at the moment, which I hope to begin a collaborative project on next year once I’ve finished the short films I’m working on right now. The level of work quality I’ve seen throughout this site, and the willingness of people to work together is very uplifting, and fills me with good feelings for the future.
I will follow this project with interest and look forward to seeing where you go on to next. Good luck!
