Priority Update January 20th, 2006:

This project has shifted and is now being done as a live action feature film.
This development means that The Gabriel Strain will get a major overhaul as
bringing it outside of a totally CG world allows us more budgetary flexibility when
production begins.

Currently, we are retooling the story. The idea is to do TGS as a feature, while leaving
room for a TV series spin-off for greater longevity of the story and characters.

We are commited to bringing the best possible ‘universe’ to fans of the genre. For this reason, we do not want to rush the groundwork.

The Story…

The Needs:
Here’s some of the things that we need concept sketches for:

Ships:
UEP Cruiser
UEP Heavy Cruiser
Freemen Heavy Cruiser (cobbled together look)
Freemen Atoll (cobbled together… made of other smaller ships)
Freemen Space Station (heavily worn, again, cobbled together)
Freemen Hero’s Ship
Freemen Fighter
Small UEP space station

Characters:
Freemen Mutants - physically (various stages), and ‘mentally’ (telepathic)
UEP soldiers
UEP bio-suit (self contained, light armor)
Handheld Weapons - short and long range, more tribal for Freemen, scifi based for UEP forces

Interiors:
Small Apartment (Sparks’ home, sparse)
UEP Grand Hall
Freemen Hero’s Communications Center
Freemen Caves
Freemen Observation Room on Atoll
Freemen Heavy Cruiser - Bridge
UEP Heavy Cruiser - Bridge
UEP Dropship (the one that deploys the Arrows) – I have some design elements that need to be worked in, so if anyone wants to take that on, let me know first.

General:
Futuristic Cityscape
Desert & Desert Ridges
Open Space - nebulae, planets, etc…
General space junk from destroyed ships
Short and long range missiles/warheads

I’m sure there is more, but it’s enough to get started on… MK and I are going to be pretty picky, so don’t take offense if we ask for changes… there will be a reason.

For this project, we’ll be using LW and some Maya.

As far as a timeline, we’re aiming to have the trailer done within 3 months.

I’ll ask that ALL POSTED ARTWORK have the authors name (or user ID) right on the picture as you’ll see with the examples that I’ve posted… it’ll help us on the artwork management side, and make sure you get credit for work that you’ve submitted.

il get to work on some of the freeman ship concepts.
what do u mean by cobbled together
kind of like made of old ships because they have little resorces or like independence day where the ships are all stuck together until they need to come apart?

well il see what i can do.

Glad you’re in dark-elf2…

“Cobbled together” … a bunch of ships built onto each other to make a drifter colony
Like the ‘Atoll’ in Waterworld or the ship the people live on in Titan A.E.

We’ll need some sketches first, or if you want to conceptualize in 3D, just block it out in major pieces until the overall shape works.

Does this mean I should add your name to the list?

have school and stuff
however ill try to help as much as possible

well im working on some concepts at the moment.
may post them later if i get them done and im happy with them.

oh and its a good idea to look at some of the x-men comics and stuff if ur looking for some good ideas for mutant abilities and stuff.:thumbsup:

almost forgot

is the planet or planets that the freemen live on mostly covered with land.
im just wondering what type of landing gears and stuff these things should have.

The idea is that the Freemen colonies were on many planets, so there would be many environments (i.e. water planets, snow planets, tropical planets, etc… ) but at the point where our story takes place, the UEP has already begun its genocide, so the Freemen are now adrift in space… nomadic.

For landing gear, do what you like, we’ll work from there… there is anti-grav capability in the story, so some may have no gear at all.

ok well heres a 3d concept for a ship i thought up.

cant seem to come up with anything junkyardish but we can use this if u want.
could work as one of the uep cruisers if we add some extra details.
it has a few little gun type things on the wings so might work.
just say if u want anything changed.

I think we can make just about any ship look junky just by putting rusty textures on it.
but if u wanna try and model them that way then thats up to u guys.
