The best Moblur solution

#1

Hi all

I´m having a problem and I´m not sure how to solve it in an easy way.
I have a secuence with all the elements on it, I mean no foregrouns neither background. The stage and the actors are in the same image file. No time to build masks.
I have the velocity channel as a separate image secuence and the main secuence as RPF.

So, I´m trying to get the best Moblur I can an I´´ve tested several ways:

  • Using ReelSmart motion blur 3.1 standard: this cause undesiderd distorsions around moving objects.

  • Using ReelSmart motion Blur pro With the velocity information: Look s quite good, no bad deformation around moving objects, but the object itself is only blurred till its boundaries. I mean, it is not mixed agianst the background, although The RPF files were rendered with ocluded objects.

  • Using Krokodove Vector Moblur: It seems to have a very nice motion blur solver, but the blurred objects leaves a terrible “black hole” (again, the ocluded objects option is not working in DFX)

Perhaps is a DFX problem, but I can´t make these plugins to work propertly. i supose that having separated all the elements and composite them against the background after applying motion blur is the best way… unfortunately i don´t have time.
I´m also havng problems whit the DFX coverage detection. The problem is simple: it doesn´t works (With Moblur neither Dof)

Please anyone can give me some sugestions?

Many thanks in advance.

You need an alpha in the MotionVector image
http://www.revisionfx.com/generalfaqsMVFormat.htm#alpha
Then it should properly blur pass the object boundaries (the alpha of the color pass as well)
This approach works better with a 16 bpc Velocity source though which I don’t think you can bring in DFX.

Not clear if your RPF come from Lightwave or Max - does not say. If from Max, use Max 8 new render Motion element or read the doc here:
