Texturing & Posing workflow?

#1

Hi all,
Quick question (and sorry if it’s a dumb one.) After you’re finished with the sculpting of a character and ready to move on to the texturing and posing, which should come first? Is there a certain order that should be followed or does everyone pretty much just have their own preferred workflow? Maybe something (simplified) like:

  1. Create base mesh
  2. Sculpt base mesh
  3. Retop (or ZRemesh)
  4. Reproject detail
  5. Create UVs
  6. Pose
  7. Texture
  8. Render
  9. Post effects

Should #6 & 7 be switched around? Thanks for the help!

It dosn’t really matter to be honest. Whatever suits your workflow. If you texture first and then pose, you’ll have some texture distortion to deal with, but can also take advantage of x symmetry. (which can still be done asymmetrically with a bit more hassle)

also, if you’re just posing for a still render then you can ‘paint to the camera’, so to speak.
The great thing about Zbrush is that it’s so non-linear, you can create your own workflow style that suits you.
