hi,
can anyone tell me how i make a texture fade out? i dont want it as in an envelope where it fades out over frames but where the texture itself fades out as it gets further along its object.
this is my situation: im making a lego version of nero from devil may cry 4 and im currently working on his ‘devil bringer’ (his demonically possessed right arm). when he stretches out the arm to grab something far away it shows up as an external force seperate to his physical body and as such it appears ghostlike in appearance. the hand stays the same colour as when its on his body but the arm becomes somewhat transparent, and as the arm goes up from the wrist to the elbow it gradually fades out to nothing. thats what im trying to recreate. i have the arm as a partly transparent blue object but i want to make the colour fade out slowly as it goes up from the wrist to the elbow. but like i said, i dont want an envelope as i want it to show in still renders and not just animations.
ive tried editing the transparency of the texture (by clicking the t next to the value and messing about with the settings in there) and ive added a gradient to the texture but i have no idea what im doing so im not getting any desirable results. i need help in achieving what i need.
thanks.
