Hi,
I get shadows edges that looks stippled when I try to bake the global illumination lightmap to textures.
It doesn’t matter if I turn Final Gather or not. The result is the same.
It should work because it worked back then when I bought the Maya 6.0.
I just can’t redo it now when I try some years later.
How do I get the lightmap to be softer and smoother?
At least I want to get smaller stipple grains, so that I can filter the texture files afterwards with good results (in for example Photoshop etc).
Here is some parameters:
Mental Ray Arealight:
Global Illumination:
Photon Intensity: 300000
Exponent: 3
Global Illum Photons: 240000
Shadow Maps:
Resolution: 2048
Samples: 4
Softness: 0.025
Render Global Settings:
Global Illumination:
Global Illum Accuracy: 900
Global Illum Radius:
Photon Volume Accuracy: 900
Photon Volume Radius: 0.100
Max Reflection Photons: 5
Max Photon Depth: 9
Final Gather:
Final Gather Rays: 20000
Min Radius: 0.01
Max radius: 100
Filter 4
Trace depth: 2
Trace Reflection: 1
This is how the model looks with baked texture from top-view:
